Here is a comprehensive list of all the gift certificates available through the SCRIP program at UMC Vista. Gift certificates can be for any occasion: Christmas, other holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, home improvement, special occasions, or things such as groceries, clothing and gasoline—use your imagination. Not listed are Famous Dave’s @ $25, (10%); Sunrise Café @ $10, (7.5%); and Krikorian Theater © $8, (6%).

What is SCRIP anyway?

A new member asked that question at the SCRIP table on Sunday morning. SCRIP is a generic term for GIFT CERTIFICATES and GIFT CARDS. We sell them here at the church every Sunday—and other times as well. We generally have over 70 different retailers represented on any given Sunday. Four times that many are available for special orders—usually available within the week.

Examples of the ones most often sold are: Applebees, ARCO, Burger King, Carl’s Jr., Home Depot, Lowe’s, Panera, Sees Candy, Souplantation, Stater Brothers and Sunrise Café. A new store across from the church, Village Bagel Company has made them available for us too. They have more than just bagels—soup and sandwiches too.

Denominations of the various certificates and gift cards range from $5 to $250. People are making purchases for everything from fast food items to major appliances to kitchen and home improvement projects. On any given day individual purchases may range from as little as $5 to the highest so far—$5,500.

We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. Another thing to take note of is that there have been several sales to folks out of the area including two from out of state.  Tell your friends and relatives about our SCRIP program. The earnings going into the SCRIP accounts to help fund things around our beautiful new facility—mainly children and youth projects, including the new playground equipment which we hope will be available around Easter.

Remember birthdays, anniversaries, Easter and graduations are coming up, as well as normal eating opportunities such as groceries and meals out—all occasions for buying SCRIP.
